Cali beatmaker Paul Grant returns with his second single of 2024. ‘Menace’ continues an emphatic creative run including last years ‘Forward’ EP, which found support from the likes of BBCR1Xtra, BBCR6 and A1234, plus albums ‘Waves’ and ‘Reflections’, which have amassed millions of streams and earned Paul a steadily growing reputation as one of the best jazz-tinged beatmakers in the business.

The track is a continuation of a collaborative spirit that’s seen him team up with the likes of Kiefer, Braxton Cook, and Emmavie. The collaboration with songwriter and underground Rn’B artist Parisalexa came about after Paris came across Paul’s original Brazilian-jazz-inspired loop on social media. The music sparked an emotional connection for her, and the lyrics started to flow, with the song becoming a beautiful release to process coming out of an abusive relationship. Paris’ lyrical brand of Rn’B combines seamlessly with Paul’s subtle beatmaking, creating a distinctive, soulful fusion.

On the track, Paris shares: “I had spent the last year struggling to find the right words to close that chapter of my life and Paul’s production just coaxed the words out of me, onto my pad. So excited to put Menace this into the world.”

This is criminally underrated. I wish more people would notice their chemistry because it's off the charts. Alfa and Emmavie shine on every track at every second - it's hard to find this quality of work these days but wow, they deserve all the praise for a flawless record. Tevin Lind
